    Goodbye, January!

Is it me or was THAT not the LONGEST January E V E R? Back on January 17th, I felt like it was January 94th! So happy to see February finally make an appearance and get this year rollin’!  I ended 2019 with a NYE party (our 10th one!) here at home with good friends. A few days into 2020, I was cruising along with my extended family on my way to the Mexican Riviera. It was SO MUCH FUN! Filled with sunshine, margaritas, naps and warm weather, it was a nice way to start the new year. A few days later, I got back and came home to about 2 feet of snow a couple of days later and got sick after that. My husband…

How Did You Meet Your Significant Other?

Rob and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary yesterday. It was a low key celebration as we are coming off of our 14 day vacation to Chile a few days ago. Last year for our 20th, he surprised me with a trip to Shanghai, China. I thought we were going to Canada! 😂 He comes up with GREAT surprises and gifts for special occasions. We went to dinner at a local Italian restaurant in our neighborhood and brought a nice bottle of wine from home with us to celebrate. We ate on the restaurant’s outdoor patio and enjoyed a warm night and gorgeous sunset and one another’s company. We had…

    My Favorite Drugstore Buys

I love me some beauty products. Lotions, body washes and lip sticks and glosses are my favorite. I use MAC for my face powder and foundation (for the last 16 years. It WORKS!) but I tend to hit the local drugstore for all of the other things I use in my beauty routine for a much more budget friendly option. My routine is pretty basic. I don’t tend to spend a ton of time on my routine, as I like for it to be quick and simple. These products definitely help me to do just that. Do you use drugstore products or items from higher end stores? What are your…

    My Favorite Pesto Sauce

I am totally on a pesto sauce kick, guys. Now that fresh basil is showing up in the grocery stores (or I am just noticing it since it’s spring now) I grab a bunch and make a quick pesto sauce for our family dinner. I find the store bought jar sauce too salty for my liking. So I make this one instead. It’s super easy and quick. This is what I do but you can adjust the taste to your liking. My Favorite Pesto Sauce 1 bunch of washed basil (about three cups) 1/2 – 3/4 cup of olive oil (I’ve also used avocado oil when I have it around)…

    Michelle Obama’s Intimate “BECOMING” Conversation

Guys. Michelle Obama. I love that woman. Rob and I took a trip up north to Vancouver, British Columbia to see her speak. Her new book, “Becoming” came out in November and I’m in the process of reading it now. I started it before she came to to town but didn’t finish it by the time we saw her last Thursday. That’s ok! I’m about a third of the way through it and am even more excited to finish it. I’ve been a fan of Michelle’s for a while now. After hearing her speak and seeing her more in the spotlight shortly after Obama took office, I became very interested…

    Podcasts I Listen To.

I am a total podcast junkie. I have listened to SO many episodes of a wide variety while driving, on vacation, cleaning the house or doing a creative project. I love to learn something new, be given a different perspective on something or just listen to a story. There are too many for me to list here but I want to share some of my favorites. There is a wide range: business, self help, mental health, storytelling. Seriously, this is just a fraction of my list. But these are the ones I’m listening to the most right now. Enjoy! Side Hustle School/ Chris Guillebeau started this podcast back on January…

    Deconstructed.

I have a gorgeous bouquet of flowers that my mother in law gave me two weeks ago and today it’s still looking pretty decent. It is full of white alstroemeria, magenta gerber daisies and stargazer lilies and lots of greenery. The alstroemeria (peruvian lily) are lasting the longest and the gerber daisies went a few days ago. But some of the stargazers are still around and a few are even blooming. I was looking at the stargazers a few days ago and was noticing all go the intricate parts that make up this beautiful flower. I then had an idea to deconstruct one and photograph its parts on my iPhone…

What do you LOVE about YOURSELF?

Love. Love for your glorious, beautiful and worthy self. That’s what we’re going to talk about today. Growing up, I wasn’t taught about self love. It wasn’t really an idea in our household. I realize that my parents did the best that they could with what they had, but as an adult raising my own children now, I feel as though this important piece was definitely missing. And it’s something that I fiercely believe in and am determined to teach my children. To love themselves. That they don’t have to be perform to be loved. That they can make a mistake and still be loved. That I believe in them…

A List of Things to Quit.

I saw this on a friend’s Facebook page the other day and immediately saved it to share. It’s a “List of Things to Quit” by new to me poet, Amy Turn Sharp. And I’ve become a big fan of hers in the last few days and am reading and soaking in anything I come across from her. I just wanted to share her goodness with you. Enjoy! xo (words by Amy, photo design by me)
